The history of St. Teresa Arts and Science College for Women in Mangalakuntu is one of dedication, growth, and academic excellence. Founded in 2016 by the Congregation of Teresian Carmelites, Amala Province, and operating under the Amala Charitable Trust, the college began its journey with a vision to provide quality education to women in the region. Affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu under G.O 52 dated 26.2.2016, the college was blessed by Rev. Bishop Nasaren Soosai, marking the auspicious start of its educational endeavor.
From its inception, St. Teresa Arts and Science College offered four undergraduate programs: English, Commerce, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The commitment to academic excellence led to the introduction of a new program in Physics at 2017, further expanding the academic offerings of the college.
In recognition of the growing demand for higher education opportunities, the college was upgraded in the year 2019 to offer two postgraduate programs: MA English and M.Sc Mathematics, providing students with advanced avenues for academic and professional development.
Continuing its trajectory of progress and expansion, the College achieved another significant milestone in 2021 with the introduction of the M.Com program, catering to the evolving needs of students and the demands of the contemporary job market.

With each passing year, St. Teresa Arts and Science College for Women continues to write a legacy of excellence, shaping the lives of generations to come.
The lively atmosphere of the Teresian campus encourages students to be not only intellectually but physically well-versed, not just refined and cultured but also well-educated and well-behaved. In order for young girls to shine on the cultural and social horizons, the institution helps to shape them into exceptional women and leaders in all spheres of life. Since a large portion of the student body comes from rural backgrounds, extra care is made to assess them at the entry level in order to determine their potential and reach the highest level of competency. Several seminars and programs for personality development are employed to instill confidence in them. To educate them about their useful function in society and nation.
Spiritual formation seminars serve as a means of providing value education. In addition to raising awareness of the current environmental risks, efforts are made to promote harmonious relationships and a sense of relatedness to the environment. The college creates, integrates, and disseminates knowledge through the academic community, which is made up of faculty, staff, and students. It also helps students develop critical thinking and other intellectual skills, as well as the attitudes and skills necessary to live as informed, tolerant, and capable leaders who spread values throughout society. Every young lady who has an open mind finds that living on campus is fulfilling and exciting. Young women are inspired by St. Teresa’s legacy to uphold traditional values while also feeling empowered to face the challenges of fast changing world.
